ESOPHAGOGASTRODUODENOSCOPY (EGD) PREP
YOU HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED FOR AN EGD (GASTROSCOPY) EXAM
- Insulin dependent diabetics should not take any insulin the morning of the procedure and should be scheduled as one of the first cases of the day.
- Do not have any food by mouth after midnight the day of the procedure. You may have clear liquids up until three hours before your scheduled procedure. Please do not wear lipstick.
- If you take Coumadin or Plavix, please STOP these medicines 5 days prior to the EGD, if okay with the doctor that prescribes this medication. You may take all other medicines as long as they are taken at least three hours prior to the procedure.
- You must have a driver present when you arrive for your procedure, and you must be driven home. Public transportation or cabs are not allowed.
IN THE EVENT THAT YOU NEED TO CANCEL THIS APPOINTMENT, PLEASE CALL 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE SO THAT WE MAY ACCOMMODATE ANOTHER PATIENT.
FLEXIBLE SIGMOIDOSCOPY PREP
PREP AS CHECKED BELOW:
- One 10 oz. bottle of Citrate of Magnesia around 6:00 p.m. the evening before the test.
- Clear liquid breakfast if this is the only test being done.
- 2 Fleets enemas one hour before leaving home.
