Phosphosoda Prep

NOTE: You must have a driver present when you arrive for your procedure, and you must be driven home. Public transportation or cabs are not allowed.

Your Medication

If you take Coumadin or Plavix, please STOP these medicines 5 days prior to your colonoscopy, if okay with the doctor that prescribes this medication. All other medications may be taken.
Diabetic patients should take ½ the usual dose of insulin/diabetes medication while on this clear liquid diet. No insulin or other diabetes medication should be taken the morning of the procedure.

Phosphosoda Prep. (Must be purchased at your local pharmacy.)

  1. Starting at lunch the day before the procedure, take only clear liquids – bouillon, coffee, tea, and clear juices (ONLY apple, grape, or cranberry). You may also have Jell-O, popsicles and carbonated beverages or any liquid you can see through. Solid foods, milk or milk products are NOT ALLOWED. Drink liberally of water and the clear liquids listed above, up until 3 hours prior to your procedure*.
  2. The DAY BEFORE THE PROCEDURE: You will need to take one 45 ml bottle of Phosphosoda at_______________. The 2nd bottle should be taken on ___________ at __________ a.m./p.m. To improve the taste, you should chill the bottles until ready to drink and dilute it by mixing in an equal amount of cold ginger ale or 7-Up.

*IF YOUR PROCEDURE HAS BEEN SCHEDULED AT LAKE PARK SURGICARE, PLEASE DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT ON THE DAY OF THE PROCEDURE.
